Junior Soccer at Tweed United

Our Junior Teams

Fundamental to our community based club is the inclusion and development of junior players. Since our inception in 2012, we’ve provided a comprehensive program of football for children from U6s all the way through to U16s and senior level. We’re here for all our local children that want to get involved, whether they want to be the next Messi, Sam Kerr or just want to have fun with their friends.

Whilst we’re here to build the fundamental skills of football within our young players, we’re also here for enjoyment—our coaches are great at what they do, but we don’t take ourselves TOO seriously. Find out more below, or get in touch with the club to find out more.

MiniRoos (4-11)

At Tweed United, we facilitate the nation-wide MiniRoos initiative with a range of teams from U6s through to U11s. MiniRoos uses short, game-based sessions to gradually introduce the fundamentals of football to our children in an inclusive way. Whilst football is what brings our kids together at the club, we focus on developing the values of teamwork, cooperation, fair play and respect for others whilst they are here with us.

Games are played on small-sided pitches that grow in size as our youngsters get older. In addition to modified rules, this enables them to focus on developing the essential skills and ultimately enjoy their time more. Every child will have more opportunities to touch the ball and to score goals. We provide coaching in addition to games and everything takes place in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. For more information, get in touch with our club or visit the MiniRoos website.

Junior Squads (12-16)

Our junior squads build on the fundamentals learned through the MiniRoos program. By introducing a more competitive environment with full-size pitches, our young players gradually develop the skills required to transition into senior football. Our current junior teams include U12s, U13s and U16’s. Since 2022, our boys U18s team has been merged into our men’s reserve team. Current competition fixtures, scores and ladder can be found on the Squadi app/website.
